it's a forum for car lovers, not lovers of a specific car or brand, we cover the depth and breadth of the hobby, from Ferraris to cheap Subarus, and I never see anyone speaking down or unkindly to someone for having tastes that differ to their own

Nah, I am obviously messing around. The open-mindedness of this community is one of the biggest reasons I've been here for nearly 4 years.

Its a large community with a vast wealth of knowledge and experiences, as you said. Trolls and general morons just get choked out faster than one can notice its great.
Whereas a couple other kinja holdings I instantly regret clicking on in hopes to find one kernel of positive or interesting news.
Instead, the stories and comments therein usually make me want to gouge my fucking eyeballs out with a grapefruit spoon.

If I ever own a first generation Impreza (fairly likely), I want to switch the E-spec headlights by US-spec ones. Looks so neat.

you may have angle issues, with the beams pointing the wrong way, and need to have the little black stickers on them.

That OTHER hummer.
(I don't know why, but this image seems fitting. I needed something obnoxious after my comment, and this fit perfectly.)

you don't know why this image seems fitting... *cough* latent homosexual tendencies *cough*

Hmm...but seeing how I had not thought of that until YOU pointed it out...so yeah.
HAHAHA!
To show I'm just busting balls, have an animated gif of Jackie Chan skillfully parking an Evo.

I've been turning wrenches for a little over ten years from a gas station service center in south TX to multi master certified technician and specialist for high end dealerships. I see cars as simply bolts, nuts, parts, and fluids. They don't have a soul, have passion, or any other goofy buzz words. Enthusiasm goes right out the door when your livelihood depends on it. A good example is here at my current dealer which consist of Volvo, Lotus, Aston Martin, and Mercedes-Benz. Not too long ago I was a front end specialist with the brands. A long time ago, I would be like, "wow a V8 Vantage... HP this, handcrafted that, Top Gear this blah blah blah" In reality, it's more like "piece of shit links are frozen, fucking stepper motors, another fucking (various bits electric shit going wrong after a voltage drop test or software failure)" I come to work to bust ass and make a living, not drool and the paint, craftsmanship (lol), and "steering feel". They are just cars, and they all break, Lotus especially. I feel like OPPO/Jalop needs a non enthusiast opinion, a grumpy mechanics point of view. These people here are awesome. Cars are all i've known for the most part and the stories interest me. I see nothing wrong with that. I'm 27 years old, don't have facebook, twitter, none of that shit. I loath computers and loath any music released really in the last 15 years. I have a N64 and the last time i've been to the movies was whenever the first Jackass came out. My life consists of my tools and working on cars. I can give a rats ass about a precision milled aluminum key on a Agera R. Yet, I can't get enough of OPPO. This place fucking rules ass tits! :]

Seeing cars as a product, an appliance is fine. That's you. However, you seem much too jaded about your job for being 27. I'm not saying everyone is enthusiastic about the field they're in but having some positive feelings as opposed to hatred often helps put out a quality product. Are you sure it's not something else going on in your life? Of course you can change careers as often as you like but staying in one career is often more financially secure - in which case you have another 37 years of
exuding hatred to cars!
You're certainly a societal and psychological outlier. Such as with your computer bias. I do agree with you but I'm 20 years older too. I agree with you on mechanical devices - the more complicated, the more stuff to break and the more likely that it breaks. I agree with you about music too! I'd say late 70's/80's were best. I have the same feelings about my job too. I probably am not nearly so enthusiastic as ass tits about OPPO!

Lol yup :] I took a break on cars a couple years to help run my dad's commercial A/C biz but cars are just constantly on my mind. OPPO are good people man. I don't have the same views on cars but the interest is there man.
